Equipment
If you have your own flag, please bring it to the event. If not, we will provide a practice flag for you to use while you are here. We will provide information on how to purchase a practice flag (optional) because it is the practicing you do in between sessions that will enhance your skills.
Guidelines and Tips
We will be structuring clinics much like we run our rehearsals. If you have a question or need additional help, please ask. Enjoy yourself and the experience. Many participants are so stressed about tryouts they don’t enjoy learning. Please arrive on time and be prepared to stay for the duration of the event. Give it 100% during learning. While these are not auditions, our staff is looking for ladies who put forth the greatest effort.
No parents or spectators are allowed in the band center. Period. No exceptions. If they are dropping you off, please provide them with a schedule so they know when to pick you up for lunch (if going off campus) or once the event has ended. Rides should return at 5:45pm. If your parent enters the band center, you will be asked to leave.
Prep sessions are so valuable because we are able to see what you can do and also provide feedback on things you can do to enhance your skills prior to auditions. It also prepares candidates for the expectations of a collegiate level ensemble. This is a quick snap shot of what we do. Feel free to register for additional clinics and/or purchase an instructional DVD. They will be on sale at the event for $13.00. Please have exact change.
Special Package Option: If you wish to attend ALL clinics, the amount would be $60 and includes a free DVD. If you choose this package, it must be paid for all at one time. Otherwise it carries the full fee if you pay at each clinic.
Optional: On Site Auditions
During instruction, you are learning Golden Delight combinations and minimum requirements. Some candidates desire to show the staff their original choreography and skills. We have allotted a short amount of time for this. If you would like to do an onsite audition, please indicate that on your registration form. We MUST know in advance. Guidelines for onsite auditions are as follows:
• Demonstrate dance AND/OR twirling combination
• Must have your own music (make sure music is appropriate) We have a CD player and IPOD dock available
• We can provide a flag, but not batons
• Limit to no longer than 3 minutes total
Invitations to Auditions
By the Monday after the prep session, participants will receive an email indicating one of the following: (1) You are INVITED to auditions, (2) We cannot extend an audition invitation or (3) we need to see more and invite you to attend another clinic (or submit a DVD if you live out of state) before we make the final decision.
